About Company

The Towards Net Zero Mission of the CSIRO is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to collaborate with Australian industries and regions to assist them reach net zero emissions and take advantage of the prospects of a low carbon economy. In order to develop new businesses and jobs for Australia, solve intractable problems, and maintain the competitiveness of Australian resources, agriculture, and regional communities abroad, we need early- to mid-career researchers in social science, science, and engineering.

Candidates having a background in computer science and data science who are passionate about using those talents to assist solve problems related to the Towards Net Zero Mission are especially encouraged to apply.  We are aware that in order to achieve these goals, it will be crucial to not only develop new technology but also remove obstacles to its adoption and use the net zero transition to meet other social and economic requirements. As more trading partners and global supply chains decarbonize and as the Australian economy gains from the emergence of new and innovative low emissions industries, Australian businesses want real tools to remain competitive on a global scale.

This will be accomplished through demonstrating technologies at scale to encourage wider adoption. Australia will be able to reduce its emissions while leveraging its numerous natural advantages to export technology, low-carbon goods, carbon offsets, and aid our trading partners in reducing global emissions by developing and demonstrating efficient, high abatement potential technology with industry and regional partners. By June 2022, CSIRO Australia will have a net-zero job.

Job Responsibilities

• Science-based frameworks for achieving Net Zero Emissions 
• Standardised assessment techniques including digital carbon monitoring systems 
• New high-abatement potential technologies for industry and agriculture 
• Growth, high value jobs and transition pathways.

Job Requirement

• You will have either completed a PhD, Master of Science or Master of Engineering in a science, engineering, economics or social sciences or research discipline relevant to the mission and have three years relevant work experience.
• you will have completed a PhD, Master of Science or Master of Engineering qualification within the last three years or will have a doctoral or master thesis submitted prior to commencement with CSIRO.    
• For Master of Science or Master of Engineering graduates you must also have equivalent levels of original and significant contributions to research and development to that expected of a new PhD graduate.   
• Your qualifications are essential for the current opportunities, but we are also looking for more unique skills to bring new ways of thinking, problem solving and leadership to contribute to CSIRO Missions and culture.
