Job Responsibilities

We are on the hunt for an enthusiastic, reporter to join our high performing local team in Broome. The role involves some shift and weekend work, and will see you chasing stories right across the stunning landscapes and unique communities of far northern Western Australia. Under routine direction of the Chief of Staff, you will create content for online, radio, TV, video, and social media and have the opportunity to share the Kimberley stories to a national audience.

  • Produce and present news bulletins, Q&As, interviews and packages across all platforms, including breaking stories.
  • Contribute to planning and commissioning processes to develop and distribute new content ideas to achieve strong reach and engagement with audiences. 
  • Identify and develop, in collaboration with colleagues, local content that can be shared with other content teams in Regional & Local and across the ABC on multiple platforms.  

Job Requirement

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering breaking and original content for multiple platforms.
  • Proficient editorial skills including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise reliable judgement.  
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues that affect and interest the local audience.
  • A current and valid Driver’s Licence
