Job Responsibilities
- Work to maintain clients living with a mental disorder in their own community environment to achieve the
- least disruption to their lives.
- Promote and support client access to, and utilisation of, existing community resources
- Advocate for the client to ensure that they are not disadvantaged and that their rights are upheld.
- This encompasses either direct advocacy or advocacy through providing a range of strategies that enable .
- Empower the client to address difficulties created by disadvantage or stigmatisation.
- Such advocacy will include specific areas as housing, employment agencies etc
- Build respectful and collaborative partnerships with other care providers and with Government and nonGovernment organisations to create effective communication and information exchange pathways to improve continuity of client care.
- Transport and escort clients in line with NSW Health and Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District
- Service guidelines as appropriate.
- Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner
- Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated skills in aged care mental health nursing assessments and interventions and experience
working with people with mental illness - Demonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers and carers with a commitment and
understanding of recovery principles in mental health service provision - Demonstrated working knowledge of NSW Mental Health Act, 2007
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and good interpersonal skills
- Computer competence and literacy
- Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
