Program Planning Manager Job at Naval Ship Management

Job Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the Program Planning of industry resource and program timelines across ANZAC class vessels within the WAMA Program. The role is accountable to functionally manage the Program Planning and scheduling team to guide the successful development and delivery of the Program Master Schedule (PMS) which brings together the 5-year plan of maintenance, engineering changes and long-lead critical procurement items, identifying the scope planned throughout the remaining program and ensuring the planned quantity of work is achievable.

• Develop and maintain a strategic long-term PMS, aligning to the current approved SMAMP (Ship Maintenance Availability Master Plan);
• Develop task maturity probability to meet External Maintenance Period (EMP) target dates;
• Drive earlier Alliance “key stakeholder” engagement and visibility to ensure we all share the same program planning journey (one TEAM);
• Review and improve program planning processes to enhance and remove delays “wastage” to enable value adding requirements into revised lean processes;
• Drive the program schedulers complex planning, control, and scheduling activities within Engineering Change Programme Integrated Master Schedule (ECPIMS), utilising Open Plan Professional (OPP) and Primavera (P6) working closely with the EMP Scheduling Manager; and
• Provide regular direction to the Program Planning & Scheduling Manager on pre-planning activity deadlines to meet the scheduled windows of availabilities.

Job Requirement

• Demonstrated, significant relevant planning experience in a related industry (defence, oil & gas, mining, construction) on complex major capital projects;
• Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning Tool (SAP) & AMPs Programs;
• Experience in OPP (Open Plan Professional) and Primavera (P6);
• Experience in the implementation of EVM (Earned Value Management) based Project Control systems;
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or other applicable technical field, or suitable experience;
• A strong understanding of the Australian Defence environment and Commonwealth processes;
• Proven ability to effectively implement change management to deliver efficiencies across the enterprise;  
• Contract cost control/reporting; and
• Demonstrable experience in a leadership position, with a focus one motivating and engaging teams.

• Current Motor Vehicle Driver’s Licence;
• Must either hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance; and
• Construction Induction Card (White Card).
