Defence Australia is hiring an EL 1 project manager in June 2022.
While Australia's immediate neighbourhood will remain the centre of attention for defence strategy, defence will continue to invest in alliances, partnerships, and collaborations throughout the Indo-Pacific and worldwide. Defense's core mission includes international participation, which is in line with the strategic defence objectives. To strengthen our regional allies in the South West Pacific and South East Asia, we will expand the Defence Cooperation Program, which presently offers defence assistance to 30 nations. In order to strengthen ties with a variety of partners, the ADF will continue to take part in multinational exercises. the willingness to put others' needs and interests ahead of one's own in order to protect our country and its citizens.
EL 1 – Project Manager Job at Defence
Job Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and management of a multi-disciplined project team and support strategic planning, governance functions and human resource management.
- Be accountable for managing and leading a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.
- Be responsible for the management of schedule, risk, budget and resources, preparation of briefings, submissions, reports and returns relating to the project progress and issues in accordance with organisational requirements.
- Apply established technical, operational, professional and administrative activities, procedures, practices and project management methodologies.
- Identify risks and opportunities and take account of these in planning, decision making and priority setting.
- Build and sustain stakeholder engagement, including the ability to communicate with influence and negotiate effectively.
- Influence and motivate team members and actively lead group activities.
- Prepare correspondence, briefs and reports as required for higher delegate and committee consideration.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
Job Requirement
- exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role.
- be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex project management work within an integrated workforce.
- require an in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
- exercise sound decision making and judgement to provide expert policy advice. You will have in-depth knowledge of the project management function and are responsible for the development, implementation, compliance and review of policies and procedures relevant to their work within that function.
- be accountable to plan, lead and manage a range of human and physical resources and exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve business outcomes.
- be responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships and will be required to identify relevant stakeholders’ expectations and concerns to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes.
