Disability & Access Advisor Job at TAFE Gippsland AU June 2022
Job Responsibilities
We are seeking a self-motivated and professional individual to step into the exciting role of Disability & Access Advisor.
- You will be responsible for planning and providing specialist case management to students with disabilities, within programs funded through Commonwealth and State agreements.
- You will provide support and assistance to students either directly and/or via referral to external agencies and are the first point of contact for prospective and enrolled students within the Institute who are seeking disability and/or access specific support, advice and assistance.
- The Disability & Access Advisor will build and maintain linkages with internal and external service providers to assist students to obtain the required life and study skills to make decisions and seek assistance, advice and support.
Job Requirement
- Experience in the provision of support services to people with a disability, preferably in an educational setting
- Demonstrated commitment and experience in person-centred practice
- Familiarity with best practice models for disability support within an educational context- planning, case management, strengths-based coaching, reasonable adjustments, mediation, conflict resolution, and supported referral
- An understanding of the NDIS and other supports and local service providers available to people with a disability
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and engagement skills
- A formal tertiary qualification in a disability or community related discipline is mandatory
- Current Drivers Licence
- A valid Working with Children Clearance (WWCC)
- Current (less than 12 months old) satisfactory National Police Check
- Valid Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate.
