About Company

In 1986, Don and Jan Hodgson started a mail-order company called The Essential Ingredient out of their Glebe residence. The first Essential store debuted in Camperdown, a Sydney neighbourhood in the heart of the city, in 1990. Syd and Susan Weddell launched The Vital Ingredient shop in South Melbourne the same year. The store changed its name to The Essential Ingredient after relocating to Prahran Market. The Essential Ingredient AU is hiring a WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT in August 2022.

Since then, The Essential Ingredient has grown to include six more franchise locations. Today, the stores in Albury, Canberra, Newcastle, Orange, Prahran, and South Melbourne still serve as sources of inspiration thanks to their wide selection of high-quality goods, cookware, culinary publications, and cooking schools.

The Essential Ingredient franchise company hired Syd Weddell as its managing director in 2006, and Peter Walmsley as general manager. Peter and Syd joined the franchise company as directors in 2011 and were welcomed as co-owners.

The culinary classes offered by The Essential Ingredient span a wide range of cuisines, abilities, and levels of expertise. The Essential Ingredient Cooking School encourages better cooks with workshops taught by some of Australia's most well-known chefs and culinary personalities in Melbourne and Newcastle.

Aspiring home cooks, discerning chefs, and market-leading retailers are served by Syd, Peter, and their devoted crew of expert foodies as they continue to look for key ingredients.

Job Responsibilities 

A vacancy is available for a Warehouse Assistant to assist our Warehouse Manager in running the facility in Alexandria. 

• Stable, family-friendly Monday to Friday hours.

Job Requirement

• Some experience picking, packing & delivery driving
• Good attention to detail
• Maybe you have worked in retail or hospitality and want more stable hours?
• Have a current NSW driver’s license
• A Forklift license would be highly desirable.
