In order to design power systems that can manage 100% instantaneous renewable generation by 2025, we are working with industry and other stakeholders. Position as a Market Analyst with an Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO).

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a breadth of operational responsibilities including day to day management of the market, registering new participants, financial settlement of the market, market analysis and stakeholder support
  • Undertake complex quantitative and qualitative analysis of market data and dynamics to inform decision making, drive market enhancement and improve transparency
  • Identify, manage, and resolve issues that impact efficient and effective operations
  • Contribute subject matter expertise to market design activities and projects that evolve the market
  • Working closely with the IT support teams, identify, define and test improvements and bug fixes to several bespoke IT systems
  • Provide reliable and quality support to the market 24/7. This is managed on a rotational basis (approximately 1 in 10) through a combination of flexible weekend overtime and on-call arrangements with compensation provided

Job Requirement

  • Passion for energy with an understanding of the energy sector. Senior Analysts should have a detailed understanding of changes impacting the energy sector and how these affect AEMO
  • Degree in economics, computing, commerce, engineering, science, or a related discipline 
  • Experience working within a similar analytical role in a regulated environment will be highly regarded
  • Dedicated to self-improvement and an effective team player
  • Excellent analysis skills and Advanced MS Excel. Familiarity working with SQL, VBA, PowerBI or Python will be viewed favourably
  • IT business analyst experience in an operational or project role will be well regarded
  • High attention to detail, coupled with an ability to meet deadlines and prioritise multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
