Sydney Catholic Schools is hiring a junior project manager for capital works in AU AUG
Job Responsibilities
- working closely with the Program Specialist in planning, design and delivery of capital works projects on time and within budget
- developing innovative and effective solutions for the design and delivery of school capital works projects including new schools, expansion and refurbishment of existing schools
- assessing School Work Requests against the SCS criteria and the SCS Strategic Plan
- managing stakeholder engagement, expectations and communication with schools and local communities, councils and authorities to develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships
- procuring and managing consultants to plan, develop and implement works ensuring the projects delivered to budget with appropriate management of risks, safety and relevant legislative frameworks
- collaborating with the SCS Asset Maintenance team to ensure a smooth transition of new assets for ongoing maintenance in accordance with relevant legislation and maintenance planning
- managing the end-to-end capital building projects, including:
- providing project management services, including feasibility and preparing business cases in conjunction with schools
- design development
- establishing and adhering to budgets
- tendering
- engaging with Consultants and contractors
- reviewing documentation
- overseeing construction, on time and on budget
- managing stakeholders and mitigating project risks
- attending meetings with schools
- safety of work.
- producing project documents for projects including but not limited to contracts, finance approval documents, PFM entries and status reports
- managing projects through the SCS project and finance systems
- coordinating the planning and implementation of projects by developing and maintaining project plans and deliverables using appropriate project management tools and techniques
- coordinating external and internal working groups on specific projects and providing assistance across internal departments on project development
- ensuring all financial undertakings are performed with regard to probity and in accordance with the SCS Policy
- any other duties as directed from time to time.
Job Requirement
- Tertiary qualifications in Architecture or Project Management or related discipline
- extensive experience (5 years’) working in the building industry in one or more of the following areas; design, architecture and construction
- extensive computer experience including the Google platform and spreadsheets, Microsoft Suite and Finance Systems
- experience as a project manager or is able to demonstrate underlying knowledge and practical experience using project management software to coordinate the tracking of progress of the delivery of construction projects in collaboration with a range of stakeholders
- experience in managing data and document management, able to develop and implement document management strategies
- experience in collaborating in teams with a shared focus to deliver innovative capital works projects
- highly effective communication skills (oral/written) and the ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders.
