In this underserved area of Papua New Guinea, Agri Labour Australia is pleased to continue providing support for the establishment of the country's first library. A group of residents came up with the idea for the library after realising the need for a community centre where people could congregate, share information, and advance their educational possibilities.

The success of Unity Library is an example of a neighbourhood that took charge of its growth and inspired its residents to donate their time to a worthwhile cause. The library receives little funding and depends on book donations, the support of neighbourhood businesses, community organisations, and groups like Agri Labor Australia to finance its operating expenses. It offers a variety of reading materials for adults and kids alike and is accessible to all community members.

Job Responsibilities

  • Commencing ASAP and running for approximately more than six months, you will be working an average of 38-45 hours per week.
  • Shifts are 8-9 hours per day, 5-6 days per week; you may occasionally be required to work a Sunday. Flexibility with shift times is required, as you will rotate between early morning and day shifts throughout the season. You will be paid a rate of $25.41 per hour.
  • This is a busy, fast-paced job that will provide you with great experience and a fun team environment.
  • Those who perform well will be given the opportunity to worth for us in further roles, or to continue in the same role for an ongoing period

Job Requirement

  • Packing experience (great but not essential)
  • Physically fit and able to work extended hours
  • Flexible to work in the AM and PM shift
  • Fast worker
  • Committed to the whole season (minimum three months’ commitment)
  • Other duties as required
