About Company
Just Picked Pty Ltd, an owner-operated company, is situated 35 kilometres from the GPO on the outskirts of Melbourne. This orchard and berry farm was started by Hans and Maria Hoffmann 16 years ago with the idea that fruit should, if possible, be grown locally, gathered at its ideal state of ripening, and made readily available to the general public with little processing. There is a direct outlet on the property where a variety of produce is offered. Raspberries, blackberries, boysenberries, blueberries, and mulberries are among the berry options. The variety of stonefruit includes blood plums, nectarines, neccots, and apricots.
Other crops include those for apples, figs, corn, tomatoes, beans, and pumpkins, among others. All product is selected when it is ripe and is offered for sale according to the season. Additionally, pick-your-own facilities are sometimes available.
A Juice Bar with a delectable selection of smoothies and fresh juices is now present on the premises as well. There is always a wonderful assortment of seasonal fruit pies and tarts in the deli, and both morning and afternoon teas are available.
This year, the produce selection has been expanded to include a wonderful choice of liquored fruits in addition to a large array of homemade preserves and chutneys.
As it appears that many other people share Hans and Maria's aim of simplifying the food chain and reducing our influence on the environment, this business has continued to expand over the years.
Job Responsibilities
- Select fruit and vegetables for picking according to size and ripeness, and discard rotting and over-ripened produce.
- Operate farm machinery to harvest nuts, fruit and vegetables.
- Load picked fruit and vegetables into containers, taking care to avoid damage.
- High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
- Ability to work harmoniously with diverse range of people.
- Proficient with using tools required for this position.
- Physically agile and dexterous.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Good level of fitness with the ability to undertake physical and repetitive work
- Physically fit and able to work extended hours and flexible shifts
- Committed to getting to work on time
