Through the execution of operations and the provision of support for the Australian people and civil authorities in compliance with governmental directives, Defense protects Australia and its national interests. Job Responsibilities
As the Cross Cultural Capability’s senior researcher and team lead, you will bring your PhD level socio-cultural research experience (in anthropology) to efficiently manage complex research projects across Defence to generate actionable recommendations in a timely fashion.
- Your research will directly shape the educational curriculum of the CCC. As the lead socio-cultural expert in the team your work will inform both the development and delivery of CCC courses and seminars.
- As such, you will be expected to be able to translate complex socio-cultural theories and research findings into practical and actionable insights for classroom delivery to a wide range of Defence personnel.
- You will also be expected to brief senior Defence officials on the application of socio-cultural research to military issues.
- Furthermore, you will represent the CCC at domestic and international conferences and seminars, and will publish your research in academic journals, monographs and joint research publications.

Job Requirement
- You are an experienced social researcher with a passion for understanding how culture shapes our world and a desire to help others build their cross-cultural skills.
- Your subject matter expertise will enable you develop and deliver training and education for Defence personnel and to ensure enhanced cross-cultural capability skills across Defence.
- The successful applicant will have high level written and oral communication skills, experience in stakeholder engagement, and demonstrated research and analytical expertise.
- Your collaboration skills will build national and international partnerships within Defence, universities, government and military research organisations to communicate with influence.
- Experience with managing team-based research projects will be an advantage, as will demonstrated skills in the supervision and mentoring of team members to achieve a shared mission.
- Familiarity with military culture and mixed-methodology research design will be well regarded.
